Premium SEO

Comments won’t affect the SEO of your site. When you are building links that are within blog posts, don’t use exact match anchor text, vary up the keyword.

The downside of using citation flow as your benchmark is that it doesn’t measure the quality of inbound links, but their quantity. The more inbound links a site has, the better their citation flow. But this doesn’t necessarily mean a high PR. On its own, citation flow isn’t very useful, because quality is more important than quantity with link building.

Though before we move ahead, here are things that you need to keep in mind. In 2012, Google launched Penguin update, which is targeted to get rid of sites using spammy or paid ways to build links. Also, many ways which I mentioned in the article are not so good ways to get quality backlinks, so I will strikethrough such ways and you can ignore them.

I have never read such an amazing article, i am a new blogger and surfing the web daily for getting some helpful information. whenever i type about building backlinks on google, this post comes on top and i am reading it daily and doing these tasks explained in the post step by step and finding it very helpful. thanks a ton for priceless info.

Hello Jason! Are these links still safe to use post-Penguin mayhem? I suggested this to my client, and he went nuts; saying he was penalized by Google before and I should just stick to the usual game plan. Honestly, I think sticking to his plan wouldn’t get us anywhere. Reply

Felix Tarcomnicu June 25, 2015 at 7:26 am / Reply Hi, Don’t pay too much attention PageRank, as it’s a metric that has not been updated for more than one year. I think it’s already one year and a half, and Google has no plans to update it ever. Look at Domain Authority and go for any website that’s higher than 25.

Brian Loebig April 12, 2015 at 2:37 am / Reply Hi Felix, this is the best articles I have read this year on the value of back links. I especially appreciate the various tools you reference to help measure effectiveness. Whenever I bookmark an article it has to be good! Keep up the good work.

Great selection of tips, many I’ve used in the past and still do, but I have a question regards to “48. Create a Wikipedia Page For Yourself and include your link in the resource section.”. Am I wrong in thinking that you are not allowed to create a page for yourself on Wikipedia?

Our network comprises of real blogs and websites which are maintained by real people, and are strictly private. Each site has a unique design, and focuses exclusively on its own niche. We always post images with alt tags, and links to authority sites in order to strengthen the SEO value of all the pages we create within our network.

7. Check TLD Please show me something – anything – from Google that says something akin to that! Links are links – they pass value. You may get additional or boosted value in certain circumstances, but otherwise the link still counts. Having a .de domain and getting links from a .fr domain is not a bad thing at all. You still get PR and Relevancy passing through that link! If you have a .de domain, and target an audience in Germany, and get links from other .de domains that target an audience in Germany, you “may” see some additional value – as far as .de searches go … “may”.

There’s a strong correlation between higher rankings for a website and the number of unique websites (i.e. different domain names hosted on different IP addresses) linking to that site. All else being equal, it’s preferable to have 10 links from 10 different websites than 100 links from 3 different websites. So, for a new link to your business’s website to be considered high quality, it should be from a website which hasn’t already linked to you.

Glad to hear you got value from the post, Vukasin. This is definitely a great way to get links from high PR, niche relevant sites.

Felix Tarcomnicu August 21, 2015 at 8:17 am / Reply Howdy Jordan, Yeah…in boring niches it’s a bit more complicated. But you know what?! If it’s complicated for you to get backlinks, it will be complicated for your competitors as well. This means that with less backlinks you’ll be able to rank higher. Have you checked your competitors backlinks? I’m sure you can find some good opportunities there. Regards, Felix

Even when you do get mentioned, though, there’s no actual guarantee that the people referencing you will give you a link. Sometimes things slip through the net. When that happens, it can be worthwhile to reach out and remind them that you’d like to be linked to.

Getting strong social signals suggests to Google that people find your content useful and choose to share it. That can help Google rate your high-quality content, which means that by the time you start building inbound links to it, any website link becomes natural.

Hi ONIBALUSI, Great article on getting backlinks. Would like to get such great information periodically from you. However, i am confused with one thing. Would not google consider document sharing a duplicate content. If you have written an article published it on your blog afteryou make it pdf and submit it to a document sharing blog. When google crawls it, would’nt google consider it a duplicate content? would it not harm your blog? I am newbie in this field. Please guide me about that.

Some people say blog commenting is no good, others say the opposite. I seem to have decent luck with it. Many blogs rank higher when compared to forum posts. Although forums tend to allow signatures with keyworded anchor text, where most blogs don’t. I just like a combination of things like you suggest.

Targeting consumer demographics: This is another essential targeting element for link building. When you know your audience’s demographics (age, gender, education, and so on), you can get inside their heads. When you do, you’ll be able to create useful content that helps them solve their problems. That’s a key component in building organic links that gets you positive results with a high PR.

Hi Nabeel, Yes, the benefit is two-fold. Search engines crawl the pdf files so leaving a link in it won’t hurt, you also have an option to link to your sites in your author bio which will be displayed after your files. Feel free to ask anything that confuses you. Thanks so much for commenting!

Keep in mind, Google PageRank is not the only factor search engines are crawling for. Here's a good rule of thumb: identify which links are relevant and positive for your brand, and don't necessarily focus on what is good for SEO. Why? Good links for your brand will ideally lead to good SEO.

PageRank (PR) is the most basic and obvious measure to use when assessing the worth of a backlink – the higher the PR of the page where the link is located, the higher the quality of that link. PR can be a misleading metric though. All webpages start off with a PR of 0 (or n/a to be precise) and the PR of a page can rise and fall over time. Also, the PR value that Google displays for a page is only updated for the general public every 3 or so months, but within the algorithm it’s updated constantly. So, the PR value you see is only an estimate, and could well be a point or 2 off of the true PR.

Hi Felix, I just found your blog today. I’ve actually never tried the strategies you mentioned. One of the problems I find about guest posting is that it doesn’t work in ever single niche. For instance, one of the niches I am in people simply don’t guest post on other blogs. I also tried broken link method, didn’t work well for me. Probably need to try it once more. Another thing I’ve used to drive traffic to my websites is to write in relevant forums. A few of them allow you to had a signature. It’s quite old school I know but it still works. Thanks, Jordan

You can ask users of your product and industry experts or analysts to review new features you're rolling out, for example. Not only will you receive an inbound link, but you'll also get great feedback and strengthen your relationship with those you asked to write reviews.

Thanks for sharing! Pretty sure most of these are still good for 2017. But as of Mar 2017, DMOZ has been shut down… and the latest Google Fred update is still kind of a mystery. A few of my articles have been slapped (not penalized), I see an overall drop in ranking – probably something to do with my link building. Stay safe people. Fred seems to be killing low quality content, and those who builds irrelevant links too fast… and we have no idea what it exactly deems to be “low quality links”.

For example, many people relied on private blog networks to help boost and achieve high PR. Then, Google threw a bomb, known as the PBN deindexing update, which tanked rankings for sites that had used that technique.

You can see all updates from the Niche Site Challenge here. I’m not too proud to admit when I messed up. And, around October last year, I really messed up. I promised to bring you a new niche site update every month. And did I? Nope. In fact, right now, One Day Guides lies untouched.

This method will help you to earn quick backlinks from high-quality pages. Broken link building technique is to find broken links on a website (related to your niche) and email the content owner and notify them about broken link. Along with that, give them a similar link from your website (Similar content which you already have to create one), and ask them to update their post.

Remember when I said you should get to know other webmasters? This is another time those connections will come in handy. When you find broken links on others' sites, let them know (politely, of course), and provide them with a piece of your own content that would be a suitable replacement for that broken link. Be personal, friendly, and helpful, and this could be an opportunity to start building a relationship with that webmaster, too.

Use guest blogging to earn authority links: Guest blogging used to be very powerful. In fact, Danny Iny used guest blogging to recover from losing his company and being $250,000 in debt.

Asad Ali October 14, 2015 at 4:37 am / Reply Great tutorial! I agree that people don’t usually share their million-dollars secret with others. SEO is more of an art than science. And at the current time 90% of SEO is all about backlinks. I’ve tried to build some high authority backlinks by commenting but it rarely works, especially for niches other than internet markeeting. there are too many websites an SEO niche can comment and get backlinks but this isn’t true for other niches. Guest posting works for all. I am gonna try it.
