The only downside of these two tests is you won't be able to test your content with shortcodes or the type of specific content you had in mind while developing the theme. Because of TemplateToaster, I love theme making. I, for example, use it in Vim, and surely you can also configure your editor for it.

So am I right in assuming that to get comments to work I MUST have a single.php template with the appropriate loop?

Exactly what I needed Farlif No more hassle, copy & paste between WP theme editor and external editors. In case you are worried about unnecessary disk space used or maybe slower programs, you can still compress your code (see the GitPHPHooks project) on commit. These are bits of code which your browser interprets as symbols. This is a pity, since the idea is great. There’s more on our reports page, like patches needing testing. Needless to say, this advice does not just depend on Atom. Refactoring for a code standard change doesn’t seem so onerous. I have never learned programming languages, but I am going through learning process. Though I am still interested in learning programming, I am not going to drop TemplateToaster if become learned.

I think having, declaring and following a standard within a code set (and I mean core vs theme vs plugin, not “all the things”) is more important than what that standard is.I’m also very in favor of updating WPCS to follow or at least better mesh with PSRs. You’re shared on FB, bookmarked in delicious, and are the reason i’ve subscribed to oneextrapixel – truly cant get over how easy you made this all to me, i NEVER learn anything within the space of 2 hours. Aside from that, it is a nice working example. I’m gonna go research it but thought that might be good to post here if anyone has the answer already. Some of the text is the actual content of the post you wrote, and some is the HTML code.

With the release of WordPress 3.0 came the implementation of many new features to the popular content management system. I got to know about TemplateToaster about a month back, since then I am making themes for my acquaint ones with this software. While I would consider the first 2 essential learning, the 3rd (PHP) is optional. Before we actually add the code to our header.php though, we have to first open up the functions.php, and add the necessary code to enable the custom menus.

It shows the articles on the category, but repeats always the same title for all the articles. But there are two kinds of text here. Read all 65 reviews. Sure you can write PHP so that it runs and goes through error and warning free to display whatever it is that you want on the screen. There are Node.js minify tools available via npm for that.

However, when you need to think about 100 little rules, the whole process becomes a bit error-prone. All my logic is in classes, and they are named using the PSR-4 guidelines.

So I’m guessing that somewhere in the theme, probably in the functions.php or the header, there is a parameter to tell it what the default home page link text should be. Some like use shorthand PHP tags (don’t do this please). If your plugin has more than 2 folder levels, it breaks. I use to make WordPress themes, but without writing code. Thank you! Thanks for sharing your knowledge with viewers. Put all your Plugin's files into the directory you've created and tell your Plugin users to upload the whole directory to wp-content/plugins/.

Not working rrus Not working for Pages and Posts. If there are multiple files, pick a unique name for a directory and a name of your choice for the main PHP file. People who install your Plugin will be putting this PHP file into the WordPress Plugins directory in their installation – usually wp-content/plugins/ – so no two Plugins in that directory can have the same PHP file name.

FWIW, MediaWiki has a very similar style convention, and is actually pretty strict at enforcing it (at least in core). I had to change the name of the php to comment.php rather than comments.php to get my comments to show.
